Eastern Track League: Atlanta
The second week of Eastern Track League action brought us to Atlanta for what was the fastest night of racing yet. In the men’s 800 meter race Puerto Rico’s Andrés Arroyo kicked off the night of 800m racing with the fastest time of the competition so far. Arroyo finished the race in a time of 1:44.96 beating out District Track Club’s Quamel Prince who challenged Arroyo to the tape and wound up with a PB of his own in 1:45.58 — both athletes capturing the 2019 World Championship standard while Arroyo no longer has to worry about the 2020 Olympic qualifying standard. Chris Giesting would lead the Hoka One One NJNY contingent in 1:46.79 rounding out the top 3, just edging out Atlanta Track Club’s duo of Abraham Alvarado and Dylan Capwell — 1:47.21 and 1:47.38 respectively.
