Honestly it depends on your goal, if your goal is to finish then your plan is perfect… whatever it take to get you through training. BUT if your plan is to run a pr or to be able to race then 12–16 weeks is what I look for in runner’s depending on your fitness and current skill level.
For me as a coach and as a former collegiate, I’m pretty confident I could ran a half marathon on a couple week’s of training but to be able to run at a level equivalent to what I did in college then I would have to kick ass in training for a long period of time.
