It has been a momentous year for the Kansas City Current, the 2nd year team has found their ethos and it’s in never shying away from a challenge. Last year’s last place team went through a journey all its’ own, they emerged into 2022 stronger — and closer for it.

“Every player is here for a reason, being you, it’s what got each and every one of us here. We just have to keep doing what we’ve been doing all year. You know, grinding out results, winning big, coming back from behind, we’ve kind of shown we can do it all.” — Kristen Hamilton

In a sport where individual accolades are so often celebrated, it is this team love and sacrifice that so often separates the good teams from the great ones.

That’s not to discount their individual qualities, Hailie Mace is fresh off international duty and another NWSL team of the month inclusion, AD Franch should win NWSL Goalkeeper of the year (she probably won’t… but she should), and Lo’eau LaBonta was a clear and obvious snub for a NWSL MVP nomination. Those players showed up yesterday too, Mace…
