Lynn Williams Is Back With No Restrictions & What That Means For Kansas City
There were some obvious fireworks in today’s Vlatko Andonovski presser but the main takeaway is that Lynn Williams is 100% healthy and not on any restrictions for the upcoming camp in New Zealand.
This is fantastic news for both USWNT fans, and Kansas City Current supporters as we ready ourselves for a very important 2023. Lynn Williams suffered a torn hamstring in Kansas City’s 2022 Challenge Cup opener but we now know that she was also very close to returning for the Current during their playoff run last season.
I asked Vlatko if Williams would be on a minutes restriction for the upcoming camp and was told that there should “be no restrictions” on her playing time, and that she was “very close” to returning during last year’s run to the NWSL final.
The 29 year old former NWSL MVP was supposed to play a huge role in last year’s Current squad but her injury drastically changed the Current’s roster and helped necessitate the acquisition of Claire Lavogez in the Summer transfer window — a Lavogez that suffered an ACL tear during the playoffs that will most likely keep her on the injury list until April or May.
Meanwhile, the Current hold 8 draft picks in the upcoming draft and only 2–4 roster spots with a log jam at the forward spot. Along…
