The 2019 USATF Championships are just a few days away in Des Moines, so I figured I would run down the meet… event by event and give you my thoughts as to who will win a national title, who will make team USA and what athletes we need to be paying attention to once the gun goes off… then have to wait 8 weeks for World Champs.

Women’s 10,000 meters

The Women’s 10,000 meters will be the first final on the track Thursday night and seems like it should be relatively straightforward up top. Emily Sisson and Molly Huddle enter the evening as heavy favorites to go 1–2 coming in having run 30:49 and 30:57 respectively. Sisson has also run blazingly fast Half Marathon and Marathon this year — with Huddle following in Sisson’s wake through both of those races. The 3rd podium spot could be a little more wide open — Sarah Pagano was 5th last year but comes in with the 3rd fastest time but there does not appear to be much light between Pagano, Elaina Tabb, last year’s 2nd place finisher Marielle Hall and last year’s 3rd place finisher Steph Bruce. For my money, I would look to Marielle Hall to round out the podium but Bruce has proven me wrong a couple of times this year and Pagano and Tabb have run 31:51 and 31:55 this season already.
