It’s day 1 of the largest meet of the Track & Field season, you’d expect it to ease you into things a bit right? WRONG. It was a day of DQs and reinstatements, discussion of alternate protocol, hot… lots of hot and Paul Chelimo going America all over Doha’s ass. Let’s discuss.

Paul Chelimo has a day.

Paul Chelimo comes into the meet as a potential favorite? (maybe) but also with the damage of being beat in Des Moines by Lopez Lomong. So, today had to be a statement run and he certainly accomplished that objective. In spite of losing a shoe, he still outdueled the rest of the field to take home the fastest time of the day in 13:20.

After the race, Chelimo promptly called out those Letsrun nerds for doubting him and declared himself the favorite for the final. Legend.

Hassan Mead was the other American to make it to the final but the largest story of the day?

Jakob Ingebrigtsen DQ?

The 19-year-old phenom comes into the day as the odds-on favorite to win the event was initially DQd for leaving the track with less than 200m to go, he tries to make a move to the inside but doesn’t have enough room to complete the maneuver. I think the DQ is legit, as a Robby…
