I tried to paint this narrative going into last night, can Noah Lyles pull it off? can he take this sport in the right direction.

At just 20 years old, the only runner who has run faster then him at this point in his career is Yohan Blake…

Faster than Usain Bolt.

Faster than Asafa Powell.

Faster than Justin Gatlin.

Then, last night this happened:

A come from behind 9.88 victory over the quick start of Ronnie Baker, and a 1st Gold in what is sure to be a long and exciting history for Lyles. The story writes itself, in a USATF final void of the controversial former champ Justin Gatlin, can Lyles keep his spot on the throne when the former champ returns.

In the meantime we’ll just have to occupy ourselves with a huge slate of finals tonight:

3:20pm 3,000m Steeple Women Final
3:36pm 400m Hurdles Men Final
3:46pm 1,500m Women Final
4:08pm 400m Women Final
4:30pm 400 m Men Final
4:40pm 1,500m Men Final
4:52pm 100m Hurdles Women Final

Remember, It’s not too late to make your predictions on tonight’s finals! Make your prediction here to win one of my favorite Bakline Running T-Shirts https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CPMHYCB

Happy Running,

Justin
