Did you know the USA Olympic marathon trials were in Atlanta this weekend? Wow, you didn’t? Where have you been for the past month?
…I’m sorry, I’m a little fired up, let’s just dive into my picks and why I think they will finish where they will finish.
These top 5 rankings will be my locked in picks, while my dark horses will be who you should be paying attention to, despite the flaws they have in their current marathoning form. Got it? Good.

The men’s race seems pretty straightforward, you have 4 categories:
Rupp and Korir : Ward and Fauble : Dark Horses : Rest of the field
This comes down to the fact that Rupp and Korir’s ability levels should see them through even if they have an off day, while Ward and Fauble should be far enough ahead of the rest of the field given their recent 2:09s and the fact that both of their training cycles appear to have gone as well as they possibly could.
The course in Atlanta will be its own beast, this isn’t a flat marathon… but Ward and Fauble have done it on hard courses while the rest of the field has yet to prove that they can keep up.
