Violette AC Is Making History Against Austin FC

With VISAs Secured, A Chance To Finish The Upset

Violette AC pulled off the largest upset in CONCACAF Champion’s League history after they won 3–0 over Austin FC Tuesday night. It may have seemed like a fairy tale on the pitch, but Violette were already up against it before anyone even stepped foot on the field.

Violette were playing this match in the Dominican Republic due to “unsafe playing conditions” back home in Haiti. They qualified for the Champions League via the Caribbean Club Championship, and had not played a match in over 200 days. Playing a very sound tactical match, all while knowing that travel to Austin for the return leg was still up in the air due to *gestures toward Haitian-American relations since the dawn of time* and thier semi-professional status.

It would be ignorant to say that Violette are in uncharted territory, having won the CONCACAF Champions Cup in 1984. However, North American soccer is in a much different place than it was in 1984.
